Welcome to my new venture collIDe, and my blog, which I've entitled "In ? We Trust".

I plan to use this blog to discuss issues which are effecting the "technologies of trust" on which we rely on every day. Technologies of trust are those that help us determine that what we believe is genuine, actually is, or in other words, authentic. Some examples are:

Holograms
UV Inks
Serialization
Smartphone apps for authentication

Some of you may be wondering why I called my company collIDe. Our time is one of increasing "collisions" which effect our world at large as well as this world of authentication. Some of these collisions are easy to spot and move quickly, some are gradual and barely perceptible. But all are having an impact on what it means to trust and authenticate in today's world. Collisions out there include:

Globalization, everybody competing with everybody
East & West - attitudes and ethics about IP and counterfeiting
Digital vs. Physical

And as the saying goes; "may you live in interesting times".
